I have decided that I am not feeling too well today. My weird encounters with music are continuing. Ok, so last night it was Pussy Le Hoot's birthday show at Charlie's (Charlie's is the only bar I have been to thus far and it is a country and western bar - you know cowboy boots, stetsons and all the caboodle). Pussy is an old drunk drag queen who apparently is always carried away horizontal at the end of her shows - last night was no exception. Well I was not there for the show (that might surprise a few of you), I was there to learn to two step. Or so I thought. No such luck since two step classes are on a Tuesday and that's when I play rugby - so it's a no show and I will need to take private classes.
I am digressing.
I have been hit by the country and western bug - last Sunday I happened to listen to this beautiful song and I even went to the DJ and asked who was singing it...The name of this hugely famous singer is Craig Morgan...Wow it was amazing! The DJ was very friendly (is anyone around here NOT friendly????) and let me have a look and listen to Craig's most recent CD. Turns out that Craig Morgan is super famous comparable to say James Blunt in the UK, only thing is the difference in tempo and lyrics with one of his major hits called "Redneck Yacht Club"...
Whilst we are on the subject - I have a new hairdresser her name is "Mash-elle" (!) - I had to ask her and make sure of the spelling and she has her store on the same avenue on which I live...the store is called "Curl up and Dye". I SWEAR!

A freakish accident - Christians are in my pursuit
Well I have bought a car...A Chevy Cavalier...it used to be owned by this old lady and it shows. Why you will ask me. Here are the reasons:
The car though does not have a CD player but only a radio and here I am driving to school on Friday when I find myself humming to this tune in my car which I happen to like...I catch the lyrics and it says
And for all you've done
And yet to do
With every breath
I'm praising you...
I AM liking this song more and more...and so I listen to the words more carefully and it goes into...
You are the Lord
The famous one
Famous one
Great is your name
In all the earth
The heavens declare
You're glorious, glorious
Great is your fame
Beyond the earth
JEEEZZZZ...I have fallen into the Christian trap!!! Well I am still wondering whether I will not come back to you all a reformed character...if I start singing about Jesus this early in my American adventure what will be of me by the end of this year????
I thought I would share with you the link to one of Chris Tomlin songs so that you could join me and praise the LORD! What will you make of my music tastes is a completely different matter!

- It smells of old urine
- A hairnet was skillfully placed over one of the headrests...

10 days and no blog?
I have been carried away...yes with all the coursework and late nights working on my projects. Well it has been one hell of a ride over the past ten days - between studying the Canadian healthcare market and the provision of cellular services in Mexico I have had no time to do anything else but study and decorate my apartment...well what do you expect??? I need to have a decent abode...
The only mundane thing I did on top of all that work was to have a party at my place last Friday. It's going to be a monthly networking event which is probably going to horrify a few of you as a concept. It is though with really nice people and it means getting to know my classmates better. I ended up having about 35/40 people turning up. I missed out on having my rugby mates, but the next one will certainly feature them.
At the rugby...it's doing wonderful things to my body...like leaving me limping for a few hours or giving me a stiff neck for a couple of days. I have bruises all over like some battered trailer trash housewife. Next week we are playing in Flagstaff. I will report on that once I have gone there.
In my next blog I will start to talk about my professors and the concept of drinkdriving in the USA.

It was just an inspired choice
Yes it really was...Remember how I was taking part in the Thunderlympics last week? Well one of the guys from the rugby team approached me and asked me if I had ever played rugby (this was just after my prowess at the bouncy castle!). I told him that I had watched rugby a couple of times (remember Bron?) and that was all. Well I am now training with the rugby team...
SERIOUSLY...NO...SERIOUSLY I am...I spent my evening after class playing rugby and I am now sore...now this is a new dimension of sore I had never experienced before and it feels gooood! The guys are really nice (which I was not expecting and which scared me a bit initially). A couple of guys are just new like me so it's not so bad and it feels like we are all there to have fun. The guy training us is a mountain of a man from Chile. We were all commenting on how it would not be fun to end up under him...yes even I thought that. He is married and has fat legs anyway...
Anyway you might be surprised to know but rugby is THE sport across American Universities...and at least at Thunderbird is the one where most of the long lasting bonds are formed...I am assuming some of you are wetting yourselves with cynical and smutty thoughts...OH shit! I have already lost my sense of humour and Bron warned me against it!
Oh well! I guess it's a no sense of humour kind of blog this one. I will soon start to post some pics so that you can see some of my new playground. Talking of which, school is really shit! I will have to work on projects at the weekend too...not in the least impressed with that.
Luckily I am working on two projects with Bree and we giggle a lot. She is making my days and taking good care of me, you will all be pleased to know.
All my news for now...I will send an update at the weekend.

New social rules - shaking hands has never been SO much fun!
OOOAAHRAAAAGGHT (or "All Right" to the rest of you)...
Last night I took part in the (I am not making this up) "Thunderlypmpics". What are the Thunderlympics you will ask? Here's your explanation - they are games in which the groups formed before the MBA get to compete against one another - basically a high testosterone version of "It's a knockout". Why am I saying that? Because almost like never before in my life I had to go through the whole cheering/supporting/competing caboodle like last night. It was fun and I lost my voice and scraped my knees like a little boy trying to get out of the bouncy castle (I was seriously in a bouncy castle at one point).
Anyway what I learnt last night is that handshakes are VERY important amongst Americans...

I had to go through a lot of punching in the air, high fives and some of the most convoluted handgestures I had ever seen. I could not help thinking if we would not save more time not going through those and gain some crucial seconds during the relay...
Anyhow, now that I have learnt a few which I will definitely want to use WITH you whenever on your visit we happen to achieve anything trivial, so get ready to hit fists with me, turn your back and show your palms, play chicken with our fingers, and the list goes on...

P.S. Finally today I am moving into my apartment!
