how life balances itself out
It seems that life has a strange way of balancing itself out. By now I have bored everyone who knows me here in Phoenix as to how I am having a crap sentimental life. I seem unable to be interested in anyone and the one or two who caught my attention are either Mormons (HUGE RED FLAG as far as I am concerned) or are otherwise coupled. Never mind!
AND YOU KNOW WHY?
'Cause today I got an A!!!! I was given an A for my Managing Global Business class. I am really excited since it was a great course with the professor being an inspirational woman who has a PhD from Stanford and an ex CIA agent. Yes! Seriously! She is an amazing woman.
So, I might not get laid, but I definitely get Ad!!!!

P.S. That last remark was lame.

A random post about Halloween and Heather Parisi
Before you proceed with reading, let me warn you that:
A. This is a totally random post...it's actually pretty lame
B. There is some nudity in the first video and the other one is just so camp it would offend even Barbara Cartland
C. I am supposed to do my first reading for Decision Tools (a new class starting tomorrow), but since I hate statistics I will not do so until I will stop feeling nauseous, which is probably never, hence the expected F grade on this course!
And we have had our great Halloween party! It was actually not that great and it was more a Hellofawee party since I was driving back home and drunk water and lemonade non stop to fight boredom. The party was not planned enough and by midnight it was pretty much all over. I dressed up as one of the masked characters in Eyes Wide Shut - I like to believe that I was the coolest at the party, but I think that Bree went one better on me by dressing up as a cactus - she made the costume herself and it was amazing - complete with pretend branch/phallus at the back who I told her reminded me of an old boyfriend.
I will post some pics but here is what I was dressed up as, just to give you an idea.
What I should have dressed up as were I not so conservative is really something else. The lady in the video is Heather Parisi (she was huge as I was growing up on Italian TV - well then again it's not like she was huge on the BBC or NBC!). Anyway she was of Italian origins (hence why she came to sing and dance on Italian TV) and in my mind she now represents what my children would become if I were to stay in America, if I met a blond American and if I had children...Jeez so many ifs, my head is spinning (that tells you why I am aiming for marketing rather than finance!).
I wonder what Dion would think of the copyright issues...
P.S. I am off to New York on Wed eve. Wish me luck since I am having a final interview.

"My mind is such a wonderful place...
...I wish I could share it with you" - Christopher tells me as we drink at Charlie's.
After a grueling rugby practice, I met with Christopher last night, one of my new friends in town. Apparently, some kind of chemical imbalances due to substance abuse as a young man, make Christopher always happy. He does not know why, but his mind is always positive and always well and it's been like that for years.
Oh! He thinks it might also be the fact that he exercises a lot and eats a lot of soy protein. I am not sure what it is, but it is great to be around him (though I have to tell him yet that sometimes he talks too much).
One thing is for sure. He is KIND and I mean really KIND. On Saturday the Rugby, Gay and Lesbian and Dance Clubs at school are throwing together a Halloween party (talk about openmindedness!). Christopher has offered a whole set of disco lights (and given that we are in America everything is big, so the lights Christopher has are DJ grade ones!) and fog machines for our party. Not only that, which is quite nice, he is also setting them up for us. Yeah!!!
So whether it was the drugs or the soy - I like what is in Christopher's mind. Now I need suggestions (and no cynical sense of humour please!) as to how I should repay him for the big favour.
START COMING UP WITH SUGGESTIONS PLEASE!

I am having an issue with how people see life today
Ok by now you all know that I am compulsive about music - if you did not know that about me, well, now you do. If I hear a song I have to have it, I hear the damn thing and I JUST have to have it. I then chew it, listen to it, dream to it, dance to it (sometimes naked), saunter to it, exercise to it, study to it and fall asleep to it...probably 40 to 50 times on the REPEAT 1 function of my player. I then spit it until 2/3 years later I fall in love with it again...and then I chew it, listen to it, dream to it, etc etc...
SO - I hear this song (and it's not country and western - aren't you all proud of me??) - it's by Mint Royale and it's called Don't Falter...again this is inspirational stuff so I go onto the website of the band and there is a cute video of the song...so I watch it and @$%#! what the f...how can it be inspirational when I am pretty sure that the girl in the video jumps off a bridge?????? I should have never watched it.
An old lady at the check out at Kmart told me the other day - ignorance is bliss and people like to be happy....maybe she was just right!
P.S. the girl in the video reminds me of Antonia...can someone tell her to watch the video for me? At least so that she can get the same haircut.

a short update
I had my Global Political Economy exam yesterday. I have to thank Susan Strange for how well she taught me at Warwick, it would have been impossible otherwise!
I saw two things that made me smile today - a car with a fascia around the number plate with written on LOVE ME - I'M ITALIAN and also a car with a sticker on which said - don't ride a horse - ride a cowboy. Incidentally that is also the name of a country song and I MUST find out which one!!
I had the second installment of my Italian parties series - I think I mentioned that every month I have a party at my place with people from school. Yesterday I invited a couple of guys from Arizona State University I met in San Francisco and they were actually quite fun, so I think I will invite them again. Coincidentally, one is being interviewed by the New York Times lothario who hit on me during my trip to San Fran. It's a small world. David says that there are only 700 gay men in the world and the rest is smoke and mirrors and I am starting to believe him.
Oh just to finish things off I thought I would share with you the names of some of my new acquaintances...Slade, Cody and Rush - with names like those they will have to become bestest (!) of friends!!!

a sign that MacDonalds is not for me
Well I was in Mc Donalds believe it or not drinking an iced coffee, as I was waiting for my tire to be repaired. These two girls come in and one of them starts singing beautiful gospel...I felt really inspired and thought that with the sun shining and Jesus watching over me I couldn't be happier. Well that is until I was ready to throw up just a couple of minutes later...The two girls order some food and whilst they are there at the cash register I hear screams! Oh my God! I look up and one of the two is intent at squeezing pus out of the other girl's spots! When she is finally done she says " This was one huge mother...er!
Nice way to start my day.

Fury and the burst tire
I guess that my transformation is complete. I knew the cowboy looks had caught my imagination and today I suddenly remembered I have always dreamed of cowboys since I was a boy and I used to watch Fury - the Brave Stallion (remember the old tv series?). Imagine last night - I am on my way from the airport back home. It was 11.30 pm. I am driving and my tire bursts. I sense the car steering off side and luckily I was not going too fast. So all's well apart from being on the I-17 and cars are coming full speed. Had I EVER changed a tire in my life??? Nah!!! I am sooo incompetent when it comes to cars that I was ready to leave the car behind and walk home with my bags.
And that's when it happens. A pick-up truck pulls behind me. This cowboy (probably same age as me) comes out of it (hat and everything) and he asks if I am alright. I cut it short and say yes as I am a bit concerned - people can carry guns here so you never know. He takes a look at my tire and asks me if I need any help. I say no and he smiles and helps me to change it. He follows me for a while in his truck just to make sure that I am all ok. As I get off at my junction he overtakes me and waves goodbye...and that's how it was left...In the car a song is blurting out and the whole thing (being rescued and all) is just very romantic. What is left is just the song...I scoured the net to find it and share it with you...It's called Run and it's by George Strait. Here are some of the lyrics. Am I turning into a cowboy? After last night, you betcha!
Thunderpants
P.S. If you want a copy of the song let me know...I am listening until I am sick of it as always!
If there’s a plane or a bus leaving Dallas
I hope you’re on it
If there’s a train moving fast down the tracks
I hope you caught it
Cause I swear out there ain’t where you ought to be
So catch a ride, catch a cab
Don’t you know I miss you bad
But don’t you walk to me
Baby run, cut a path across the blue skies
Straight in a straight line
You can’t get here fast enough

An MBA is not just gay
It is witty and pretty too. Or so were telling me two of the participants to ROMBA. No it's not a salsa nightclub in downtown Phoenix. It's the Reaching Out MBA conference in San Francisco. It's just drawn to a close and it is all about being gay and being MBA...yeah! It was actually quite inspiring. Lots of interesting people and lots of connections made (and possibly a couple of interviews) - I will keep you posted on those.
Ah! I am so hungover it bears not mentioning. Now that I am a student I need to watch my money and the offer of free alcohol was too strong to resist. Not even the pressing approach of a recruiter from the New York Times (in his fifties, coiffed white hair, too much shiny lip balm) deterred me from staking ground near the bar and drinking the night away chatting to people. Well a couple of guys were fishing for something else, but how could they approach me and then tell me that they have a boyfriend back home??? I feel like this MBA experience is going to be alcohol fueled, but not much more than that.
Well I guess that study and rugby will make up for the lack of sentimental activities. I am going to Las Vegas next weekend on a rugby tour. I will let you know how that goes on my return. The question is : "Will I have a chance of getting stuck in Las Vegas?"...
The forecast is not good...At this point the only certainty is a broken rib or a good set of bruises!

All in America is about fairs

Well at least this is the impression I am starting to get. I spent last week in Houston at the MBA Career Fair. I was there trying to pick up a new job, since I don't really want to go back to my old one as most of you probably know. What's more I had applied for another job within TfL and I was soundly turned down! Well stuff you TfL then! I will go WEST (well technically I am already here...) and find myself another job in the US of A!!!
I had a few interviews and bizarrely NOT with technology companies or management consultancies. I interviewed with two pharma companies and UBS (yes the swiss bank!!!!). Not sure what will come out of it, but I will keep you all posted on that.
Tomorrow I am off to San Francisco (see I am going even more west and this time the Village People will surely be there waiting for me!) for another MBA fair. The concept is a bit bizarre - this one if for gay MBAs. Big names (including McKlinik and Goldman Sucks - no spelling mistakes there), so who knows what to expect. A friend told me that this is the place to find a husband not a new job...in all honesty I have no desire for either if it involves Any of those big names...
THE ONE FAIR I will not miss is in Feb March next year - it's called Renaissance and has nothing to do with the dos that the Clinton's used to attend. Not far from Phoenix there is a medieval town in the desert built in 1995. There will be people dressed up in medieval clothes who will be selling their crafts and there is one day where the whole place is just gay...(I'd have thought that the whole thing was intrinsically gay anyway!!!). Apparently there are LOTS of towns like this one across America and people travel from state to state and live in a permanently medieval setting...HOW FUN!
I am having a party on the 18th if you can make it. It's for my school mates and I have decided to have one every month. Here is what the last one looked like if you have not seen the pic on facebook...by the way I am on facebook and skype if you want to be in touch with me. If you check the picture out, Bree (my sweet sweet star of a friend) is the girl lying horizontally in the picture, Pam is the girl in the white top next to me (she is dark and funny!) and Kelly is the girl with the blond hair (Kelly has lived in Georgia and speaks Georgian which is quite extraordinary or AWESOME as they say here and she is coming to cook with me and for me some good old American classics), one of the guys in the pic is a bit of a freak...but I will not say who and why...well at least not on this since I could be sued...so if you wanna know just ask in an email.
ALSO I wanted to mention something else. Whenever I speak to you all you all seem to be reading this and enjoying it. Well an artist like me needs feedback...I need to know that you enjoy this and what topics are of interest and which ones are not (btw...I am still into country music - it's so bad!).
So feed me back! Let me know what you think!!!!!
P.S. I will occasionally say WAARER instead of Water, sometimes people don't understand even if I repeat and tends to confuse them if I repeat anyway.

EH Carr - a relatively boring post for most of you
"That precious gift bestowed upon the British people - the possession of writers and clergymen able in perfect good faith to advance the highest moral reasons for the most concrete diplomatic action, with inevitable moral profit to England."...
In my class of Global Political Economy we are currently reviewing the 20 year crisis (my Warwick classmates will know what I am talking about). And these words by the Italian Foreign Affairs minister of 1927 resound today just as much as they did back then...
Do you agree???
On a brighter note...I am enjoying KNIX - I hope you do too...www.knixcountry.com
