Hey
All is good in Thunderland. And sorry for not having been in touch for so long. I have had a crazy couple of weeks with a great number of projects going on all at once. And I am still working for the school! After a weekend in Denver with Dave, I have returned back to the safe world of Thunderbird, where the grass is always green and the sun shines non stop. All seems perfect and yet something is stirring behind the serene facade.
So what is it that keeps these beautiful minds restless? Like in the rest of the world, it is love (or sex) that seems to keep everyone buzzing.
An example?
A friend has asked me to go out for coffee today. Her dilemma? How to keep a relationship going, that it just is not going the way it is supposed to. She is concerned that he might lie to her and that he is not really committed. A big dilemma, especially since the two seems just made for each other from the outside. So, we are having a quick coffee between classes and she asks - is it love or is it not? And how do you get out of a relationship that on the surface is just perfect, but that behind the scenes could hide some murky secrets? Especially if you feel that the other party is not telling you really what is going on in his head? He surely is reassuring her that all is fine, but she is just not convinced...
And there I am having to work out how best to respond to the question. She wants an answer from me. One that I don't seem to have! I took time and told her that I needed to think about it. Difficult to be objective when you know very well both parties!
So what do you say? Do you have an answer to this dilemma?

Chicken by the Sea ? Chicken of The Sea? Chicken from the Sea?
It is not just Jessica Simpson...THIS IS A HUGE DILEMMA I TOO HAD! Is it Chicken or Fish??? It all started when I went to Aldersons - where they sell Pigs Feet remember? Next to the Pigs Feet I also saw Chicken of the Sea. I started to imagine all these pens with chickens which were tended by mermaids. Acres and acres of ocean farms with chickens that instead of wings were sporting multicoloured fins. Ah! It was such a beautiful dream and then I woke up and all I saw were the pigs feet again...aaargh!

a mish mash of events
BANG!
My week starts like that, in fact the BANG is starts even before that last Friday, when Dave arrives in town. He was visiting me for the weekend and I had one of the best weekends ever in my life. We spent time by the pool at my place - it was cold, but the hot tub was great - showed him around campus and went to Quiessence for dinner. Quiessence is a restaurant in town that I discovered on the net. We had an 8 course meal in the garden by a brick oven with a roaring fire and fairy lights (people laugh at me when I say fairy lights by the way!).
Then the week starts and classes resume - it's been tough trying to keep up and pick the routine again. Looks like this trimester I will have a lot more group assignments which is good, cause it means that I get to boss people around.
To top it all off, last night I was invited to the Board of Trusteees dinner. This is the Group of rich men and women who support the University. One of the Trustees at my table announced that he was donating 10m$ to the school, there and then! It was heady stuff, with one of the ladies telling me all about the huge dilemma of where to build the new villa in Hawaii...It was almost surreal!
This weekend is the Super Bowl weekend and the final is in Phoenix. It is HUGE!!! Everyone is very excited and though my favourite team has not made it (Go Cowboys!), I will be watching it at Tara's place. I am sure it will be fun.
All for now lads and lasses, a new chapter will be awaiting for you next week, when I will talk about the benefits of farming chicken in the sea...
